Getting ready

We are currently getting ready for the departure, which has been set on August, 10, 2012. We still need to sort out a lot of details before we set sail for this great adventure.


The route (detailed on the appropriate page) was chosen to keep our travel within more or less one year. Since such a journey gives us a lot of freedom, we leave it open for events, encounters or our own preferences to bring some changes.

The bicycles that we are about to order, the Koga Miyata Signature, is a best-seller in the world of bike travelers. For the rest of the gears, we are currently looking for sponsors. A detailled list will be available soon.

Our future companion

We have already examined visa requirements for all the countries on our route. The situation in Tibet is still very worrying and we are thinking of different ways to bypass the region. We are also ready to take an alternate route through the Caucasus if Iranian borders were to be closed next year.

Currently, Akira finished his current civil service assignment at Médecins sans Frontières and is about to start his next one at Antenna Technologies, that should bring him to Mali between May, 1 and July, 31 (provided that the military junta over there gives the power back to the people). In the meantime, Sébastien is teaching mathematics in Geneva highschools.
